In an increasingly mobile society, it's common to cross the globe many times in a single month. Journeys that once took weeks, now take hours. All of this travel is a suitable metaphor for Andrew Macpherson's rise from fashion photographer to the pinnacle of celebrity photography. He literally travels the world to profile the best-known people of our age. He also embarks on on artistic journey to bring something fresh and inviting to each of his images. In this quest he employs a multitude of varied techniques, playing with form, context and colour. A note of poignancy overshadows his work.

'We are the first generation of frequent fliers, long distance commuters

who keep score of our miles as we scrape the skies.
I've sat seven miles high for more than two million miles
in my quest for the perfect picture.' - Andrew Macpherson

Andrew Macpherson was born in England at the dawn of the sixties. Her grew up in the New Forest in England where he discovered photography at school. He had a dynamic and inspired teacher who illuminated a world of possibilities behind the camera. At fifteen he moved to London to start work, which meant making tea, sweeping floors, but this led him to assist some extraordinary and legendary photographers such as Horst and Lord Snowdon. This was his real education, eight years of watching the masters of his chosen craft at work, and helping them realize their vision.

At 23 he eas discovered by famed fashion muse and talent-spotter Amanda Harlech, who joined forces with Andrew and he shot his first fashion story with her for Harpers & Queen in London. The fruitful partnership started him on a ten year trajectory as a fashion photographer shooting for The Face, Rolling Stone, and UK and Italian Vogue, and led to advertising campaigns for Diesel Jeans, Dunhill, Ray-Ban, and H&M. British Vogue hired Andrew to shoot U2's ZooTV Tour in 1992-93 through Europe and America.

It was during this time that Andrew first discovered and fell in love with California. He began to focus his energy on the entertainment industry, and after a long courtship finally moved to the west coast in 1996, where he lives now.

'For such a gentleman, Andrew MacPherson has one wicked eye...' - Bono, Dublin 2006

'They say a picture is worth a thousand words...

so what can I possibly say about Andrew that could encompass all that he has done for his art.....

a glimpse into a world that is filled with compassion for art and love for life.' - Charlize Theron, Los Angeles 2006
